Select 3.11 and hidden features in Calamus Ulf Dunkel,
16 January 2003
The "RTF Import/Export Driver"
offers a free update to version 3.01 for all of you, who already own
SL2002 and RTF 3.0, in our Service Area (see below).
RTF-ImEx v3.01 (2003-01-16)
-
Microsoft Word for Mac uses \charset 256 which is undefined in
the
available RTF documentation v1.6 so far. These Mac RTF files are now
recognized as Mac RTF.
"Select3" (http://www.calamus.net/us/modules/sel.php)
also offers a free update to the current version 3.11 for all of you,
who already own SL2002 and Select 3, in our Service Area (see
below).
Select3 v 3.11 (2003-01-14)
- Snap and Move functions now work
correctly with a re-defined point of origin (in the document
ruler).
- Version Checker is now supported.
- A Norwegian
version is available.
Hidden features in the frame editor A while ago, we added a
mouse function which lets you pipe text frames to text piping chains not
only by using the corresponding function icon from the frame module, but
using the "text chain" icon in the bottom-right corner of each text
frame.
Today we proudly present two features which were
undocumented so far:
Bend Text Flow If you have chained at least two text frames already, but
want to push the text flow in another direction, you can simply click
the text chain icon in a text frame within the text piping chain and
drag the mouse cursor to another text frame which has not been linked to
the existing text piping chain already. The text flow will immediately
be bent to this frame, leaving all previously filled text frames from
this point empty.

text flow from the middle of a text piping chain... http://www.calamus.net/man/img/mod/frm/piping_redir_1.gif
...into a new direction:

Take Back Text Flow You might want to take
back the text flow at a certain point but neither do you want to delete
all further text frames nor do you want to cut the text at this point.
Simply click the text chain icon in the frame where you want to let the
text flow end. Then drag the mouse cursor to exactly the same (!) frame
and release the mouse button. This is how you take back the text flow to
this frame. All other text frames from this point onwards will be empty
again as if they have never been piped before.

Service Area You can reach our Service Area in each chapter of
our website by clicking on the symbol "My Calamus" or by visiting
http://www.calamus.net/service.php
If you are sure you should have this free update, too, but you don't
find it in your Service Area, please don't hesitate to send us a short
e-mail. We will then check your module update status. We also recommend
the "Version checker" module (http://www.calamus.net/us/modules/vch.php)
in order to check your module versions. Version checker has been in the
SL standard package since SL2002.
